Sketches to Embroidered Hand Lettering

At a young age my mother, a sewing fanatic, taught me the basics of sewing. As I grew up, she passionately tried to interest me in sewing related projects, which I worked to avoid with all my will power. Needless to say I usually ended up in the sewing room anyway. Now that I am older, I truely appreciate what my mother has taught me and recently applied some of those skills to a couple of hand lettered embroidery hoop art pieces.
You Were Wild Once

After reading this Isadora Duncan quote, I felt inspired to sketch it out on paper. After that, it sat around for a while because, like most of my doodles, I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it. Some time later, I saw some gorgeous pieces of embroidered hoop art on Instagram and Pinterest and thought, I could totally do that (cue the sewing skills my mother tried to teach me).
Goddamn Magical Unicorn

After finishing my first embroidered quote, I immediately started into this next piece.
Takes Courage

Some times all it takes is a little reminder to be who you really are.
